Look at what Lukage has created!

His werewolf game has created a monster out of GFF... and i'm lovin' in.

Anyways, much like Identity Crisis, and RockgamerXIII, i've decided to voice my intent to mod a game by laying out some of my ideas.

Knights of the Round Table

The king is under tremendous pressure. War in the neighbouring country has taken him away from his home as he leads his troops in battle, the assassins out to rid the land of it's ruler and his loyals, the witch's cult also wishing to see royal blood spilt, events of recent are looking desperate. Unaware of each other's intentions, the two factions strike repeatadly upon the capital city of the kingdom, and all those loyal to the king struggle to keep the monarchy alive. All the king's men have been sent to war in the next country over, save for the two best knights in the king's army, to guard the royal family.

The black market will be returning
The black market will be run differently then in games of old. In this game, everything will be determined by the roll of dice. First, two dice will be rolled, and those two numbers will determine the range. The third dice rolled is the decider. If the decider is below the range set by the two first dice, then nothing will happen. If the decider is within the range, something good will happen, if the decider is above the range, something bad will happen (but in order to lessen the chance of bad stuff happening, nothing will happen if the decider is above the range, but shows a 2).

Example:
2 4 1 = Nothing happens
1 4 3 = Something good happens
2 3 4 = Something bad happens
1 1 2 = Nothing happens

Roles

Masons = Royal Offspring: The princes and princesses of the royal family are the only ones left to carry on the monarcy as it exists today. Together they must try to stay alive against two unknown foes.

Vigilantes = Knight: The brave warriors assigned to protect the vital resource that is the Royal family. (Wondering about the validity of having the Knights be able to contact the Royal Offspring, and have them work as a big team)

Seer = Court Mage: These men of Arcane studies loyal to the king use their powers to search the souls of those who appear to be loyal to the king.

Hunter = Retired Knight: He's not a fighter anymore, but maybe, just maybe he's got it left in him to take down one last foe if he's got enough reason

Archangel = Royal Guard: Men who have been assigned by the royal family to guard those who appear to be loyal to the king. By knight, they watch over their self chosen targets, and if they are attacked, the guards attack back (interesting idea i had, that this role could kill an attacker at random if the person they protect happens to be attacked at night)

Magistrate = Duke: A kind old man, and friend of the king. His political stance allows him to protect one person per day from the masses.

Silencer = Court Official: Men hoping to become Duke one day, have the political standings to silence one vote per day in the lynchings.

Lucky Stiff = Lucky Stiff: Yeah, same as always.

Pickpocket = Theif: A person with no specific alignment to anything save for money and personal gain. Each night they will try to pick the pockets of one unlukcy soul who stayed out just a little to late. (Steals items)

Cultist = Wolf

Witch = Devil

Assassin = Mafia

Boss = Spy

New Roles

Watchman (Generally called Investigator): Everynight will chose a murder to investigate (Assassin, Cultist, or Knight (if they so chose)) and will be given a list of three "suspects". Two of them will be innocent, but one will be guilty. The Watchman will have to observe the voting to make connections and keep track of the names he's been given.

More may come.

Abscences

Mysterious Strangers will make aperances this game, as well as something i'm calling the skipper. The skipper will leave the game for a day and a night, which day and night is up to the mod. The skipper will be told they will have to leave, and when they will have to leave. The mod can decide if they want them to keep it a secret or not. The skipper will be immune to being killed at night, but if voted to be lynched that day, will be ambushed upon return. Not being able to defend themself during that days lynch is the trade off to being invulnerable the previous night.

Items

Short Sword: Provides Hunter style defense from night time attacks.

Knight's Crest Will appear to Mages and Witches/Boss as a Retired Knight, but is in actual fact, not one.

Wood Sheild Will provide protection from night time attempts on their life for one knight, then the sheild breaks. (more can be bought at the black market, any number of Sheilds could be present in the game) (The sheild does not result in the death of an attacker)

Crystal Ball The old Fortune teller is dead, but her Crystal Ball was never properly found. With this item, the holder will be able to communicate with the dead, and learn hints as to the alignments of other players.

More may come.

So here's the furthest along of my ideas so far. Any feed back?

Holy crap three entries in one day.

Anyways, can anyone tell me anything about the band Lifehouse? This is the first in what i hope to be many "random music discovery" entries. If i hear something in passing about a band, of which i know nothing about, i hope to discover the band more in depth by turning to you GFF.

So please, lay it all on me, anything about the band (Lifehouse), reviews, albums, sample songs (those are most appreciated, cause if i like it then i'll go out and buy the album). Hoping this will become a success

Bars, Video Games, and Woodcutting

music: Black Sheep - Sonata Arctica

Yeah, so me and guys had our Prince of Persia thing the other day. We didn't even get half way through, but it wasn't our fault. About an hour after we had all the final plans laid out (if you'll remember we had to postpone this event cause for a beach trip) when all of a sudden i get a call from Dani. She puts on this really forceful attitude and tells me that i'm going to have to postpone these plans again, cause it's a friend's (some of you may know him better as lightwarmth) surprise birthday party that was planned a hour previous. I suggest to her that maybe she should put some more time and planning into this, but she's solid in her conviction.

So ok, Me Nick and Randy decide to at least make an apperance. We drive out after the surprise so we've had some game time before, and we stay for the better part of 3 hours. It was fun, glad i went, but i think it could've benifitted from more planning.

We also split our play time between Prince of Persia and Shadow of the Colossus. So that's another excuse for not finishing. At around 9:00PM i'm informed that my dad wants me to cut wood with him again on sunday. I don't really have a choice, so i say sure.

At the party, i'm informed that there's a bunch of friends going to the bar the next night. I'm not so intent on going, cause i need to save money for next weekend, when we're going to the bar for Kelsey's birthday. But no, cause i skipped out on last week's bar trip (my friends go to way too many bars) i had to go to this one. So i scrape together 20 bucks and have a few drinks but nothing serious cause i wasn't feel so great to begin with.

Great. First i pull a pretty much allnighter with Nick and Randy, then i'm out at the club till 3:00AM, then i get to go do physical labour for 5 hours from the moment i wake up onwards. I just got home from the woodcutting, and i'm sore all over.

The lady at the counter must think i'm crazy

Sep. 29th, 2006 | 01:45 pm
location: home
music: Oceans - The Tea Party

So i went out to run and errand, and meet with some managers regarding work. I went to future shop to pick up a new GC controller for tonight (something tells me my current controllers won't last the marathon) and i saw Shadow of the Colossus on sale for cheap, so i picked it up.

When i went to the counter the lady saw my two purchases and gave me a bit of a look, and after a moment said, "You realize that this is a PS2 game right?" I said yeah, then she glanced down at the controller one more time. She then shrugged and rung 'em up. I thought it was kinda funny after it happened.

Randy's coming over in two hours and we're gonna chill before nick gets here. Nick'll be here around 8:30 and we're gonna hit Prince of Persia hard after that. Can't wait.

UPDATE TIME:

Dragon Quest VIII
coffee:
ergh, haven't played in so long. I promise i will play sometime inbetween my essay and job hunting

Marathon:
donuts:
Man, i just entered the chapter(?) called Durandel. It got wasted mighty quick. Kinda scared to keep going, but the story is so drawing, and i really wish there were more health points in that game

Lost Withdrawl:
sandwiches:
The shakes have gone away now, and i'm starting to get clearer in the head. It's not so bad if i don't think about it, but last night i watched the first two seasons recap with my sister. Holy crap that made me antsy.

Job Hunt:
Chilie:
Yeah, if you haven't noticed, all my spoilers have been Tim Hoton's themed, cause, guess the fuck what. I FINALLY GOT A FRIGGIN INTERVIEW. On monday i'm going out at ten to meet with the manager. I'm feeling confident about this job. It'd be nice to work there seeing as how i recently became addicted to their coffee and iced caps.

Can't wait for tomorrow

Nick, Randy, and I are finally going through with out plans to play Prince of Persia till we can't take no more. We finished Sands of Time Last year around January, possibly still during Christmas Holidays (i'm pulling that right out of my ass, i actually have no idea when we finally finished) and we're started on Warrior Within as soon as Nick is done supper at his dorm. Should be around 8:00 PM when i disappear to the basement for 24 hours. If you don't see me, that's why.

I'm debating whether or not to just go and buy Two Thrones now, as it's $20 at Future Shop. I can only hope that price doesn't go up again, cause it's still 40 at EB.

We are nothing but animals with clothes

music: Honour Thy Father - Dream Theater

And we are SO in denial about it.

Watching our tirade against the Extremist, and AE funtime Ninja buddie really irked me the wrong way. I followed both threads very closley, and contributed to them a small amount. I could only think about how i would have felt if that sort of thing had been done to me. I felt terrible about feeling like this person needs to get some sense slapped into them, which was clear.

But then i see how it brings the comunity together. So many people who make this community what it is rallied together under one flag to chase away a person who isn't worth our time. Sure, i'm all about inclusion, and not being a prick to noobs, but i can't help but take comfort in the fortress that is mass unity.

Recently i've wittnessed this in my Politics class as well. There is a guy in my class who is autistic or something, he has a learning disorder of some kind. He's very smart, and always has something to add to the discussion, or to the lecture we're hearing. Often, his points are non-sequitors or, really don't need to be said, which brings alot of people to silent laughter. Today however, he brought us all out in the open. Everybody was laughing at him, he got in an argument with some people around him over the point he made.

His response to the opposing point of view he was facing, was to call his opponant a Klingon. After the chaos had settled, he turned back to the front of the class as if nothing had happened. I was in the row behind him, surrounded by people who i didn't know, and of course, they didn't know each other. From this event, i saw the stranger barrier really break down. People were suddenly whispering to each other, giving each other signifigant looks if they couldn't speak to each other, etc... We were brought together much like the Extremist brought GFF together.

As petty as it sounds for me to say this, but i went though this quite a bit in elementry school. Many people would pick on me, and numerous people would be unified by their common goal, to humiliate me. I felt terrible, and all it did was make them feel better about themselves, which is much the case here on GFF with these past two pricks.

This happens on the school yard, plenty. I witnessed it, experienced it, even participated in minor forms of it, and all my life i've been told that it is a bad thing, and that no good can come of hardships in young life, and that we need to be coddled all the way up through school, and life will be happy and fun again.

This can't be the way things work. Maybe it's a step in the direction of utopia, but it's a step away from nature. Natural selection and survival of the fittest. We live the protection age. An age where a man cannot say to a parent that they have a beautiful daughter without being called a creep and labeled as a pedifile. The game of tag is brought into question with it's effect on children. Tried and tested toys from the past have become the ultimate evil in the universe because of accidents that could happen.

All of this leads to us teaching our children not to fend for themselves, and that everything has to be taught to them, and their battles, not only should be fought for them, but shouldn't be fought at all. The toys of yesterday that caused injuries then and now, are held in highest fear because of a potentially dangerous situation that largley comes as a result of negligence on the part of the user or the parent. With this, we are on our way to eliminating the saying "Learn from your mistakes". If a child is not allowed to burn themself, then how will they learn not to burn themself in the first place?

We are so obsessed with everyone being nice to each other, and children being able to breeze through school without so much as a scratch on them. Much of what shapes the child as it grows is now being removed from the situation, and bullying is on par with terrorism.

The Extremist came in here not knowing how we would react to him, and he got burned. Now he's learned what not to do when he's introducing himself. If he choses not to apply that knowledge, then he's an idiot, and not fit to survive natural selection. Through incidents like this we can learn things about ourselves, and apperantly, become united as we try to teach someone about how not to be such an asshole.

Makes me wonder how bad and evil bullying really is. Perhaps there's elements of it that are required in our society, but we're not willing to admit it. This is one of the reasons why i hate the protection age so much, because it's unecisarily coddling our young people, and can leave them drastically unprepared for incidents like this when they're parents aren't around anymore.

Just some things running through my head. I know it's probably terribly disjointed, but i've sort of been just going as it comes to me, and there was a lot of stuff i decided to omit, cause i started to go off on a bunch of different tangents.

Crowd Pleasers

Sep. 27th, 2006 | 11:32 pm
location: home
music: Osmosis - Liquid Tension Experiment

So i decided to go through the 1200+ songs on my computer to figure out which songs would be generally accepted by the majority of my friends, or "Crowd Pleasers" as i've come to call them.

Here's the list as it stands

Wait for Sleep - Dream Theater
A Mind Beside Itself Part III: The Silent Man - Dream Theater
Space-Dye Vest - Dream Theater/Kevin Moore
Hollow Years - Dream Theater
Anna-Lee - Dream Theater
Metropolis Part II: Scene 4 Part II: Through Her Eyes - Dream Theater
Metropolis Part II: Scene 6 Part II: One Last Time - Dream Theater
Metropolis Part II: Scene 7: The Spirit Carries On - Dream Theater
Disappear - Dream Theater
Vacant - Dream Theater
The Answer Lies Within - Dream Theater
Harvest of Sorrow - Blind Guardian
A Past and Future Secret - Blind Guardian
A Million to One - Helloween
Windmill - Helloween
In The Middle of a Hear Beat - Helloween
Longing - Helloween
The Badger - The Tea Party
Heaven Comin' Down - The Tea Party
Shadows on the Mountainside - The Tea Party
Always and Never - Coheed and Cambria
Osmosis - Liquid Tension Experiment
State of Grace - Liquid Tension Experiment
Wonderous Stories - Yes
Soon - Yes
This Heart of Mine (I Pledge) - Pain of Salvation
One Step Away - Ghoti Hook
The Pass - Rush
Nobody's Hero - Rush

That's 31 songs out of 1200 (I'm leaving my VGM out of this cause i don't feel like sorting through it all) that would be considered acceptable by 80% of the people i know's standards.

Well, if i ever need to make a quick birthday present or something, now i'm prepared.

If anybody wants any of these songs, or maybe an album PM or something.

BTW, Lady Miyomi, you had expressed interest in some Dream Theater a few days ago. I threw together a meager "Beginner's Guide to Dream Theater" including a song from every album as a sample, and a blurb about the band and their music. If you're interested, just say so.

Yeah, your post in Stop talking about the Barbie series, Kurado, thread got me hooked on Marathon. It's been getting steadily worse and worse each day. So far as to take time away from Dragon Quest.

So now i must proceed to yell profanities at you for destroying my time, and at the same time thank you for bringing me about to the Marathon Way.

UPDATE TIME:

Dragon Quest VIII:
great game:
but Marathon seems to be better

Marathon:
should be playing DQ:
but i'm currently in the Cold Fusion place after sealing off the one deck to be exposed to open space. Just got that crazy laser gun. Super excited to go on a total spree.

Job Hunt:
no spoiler needed:
But i decided i'd go for three. Still no calls. I'm beginning to think that every single employer in this city has it out for me.
